Field Survey Technologist – Survey Crew Chief

Longhorn Geomatics Limited is a Geomatics and Land Surveying Corporation with a casual, energetic and dynamic culture.  Longhorn is located in Calgary, Alberta and is currently seeking Field Survey Technologists to join our expanding and ambitious team.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to directly influence the evolution of Longhorn’s field and office procedures in our close-knit and collaborative team atmosphere.

Requirements
As a successful candidate you:

• are a graduate of a post secondary geomatics/surveying program
• have three years minimum experience as Field Survey Technologist on oil and gas projects (wellsite, pipeline, construction, and cadastral surveys) in Alberta’s unsurveyed territory
• safely operate All Terrain Vehicles, snowmobiles, and chainsaws
• have proficient use of survey equipment and software
• embrace new technologies and innovation applied to survey projects
• are willing to travel throughout Alberta for reasonable periods
• have strong leadership skills
• have a valid driver’s licence with a good driving record (clean abstract to be confirmed)
• have employment references
• ensure 100% compliance with Longhorn’s drug and alcohol policies

Responsibilities
As a member of Longhorn’s team you will:

• promote Longhorn’s safety program
• update safety and technical training as required
• supervise field surveys on a two person crew
• provide accurate, clear and concise field notes and diagrams
• create accurate digital data files from recorded survey measurements and observations
• liaise with project managers, clients and land owners
• mentor and train junior staff
